1991 Georgia Reunion---the Florence Family, Lincolnton, Georgia (William Zack and Rebecca Florence)

      These two videos were made August 11, 1991 at the Florence Family Reunion in Lincolnton County Georgia (at a county park as I recall). I will check this next statement: I think the Reunion began around 1912 to celebrate Grandmother Florence's birthday {Elizabeth (Wright) Florence}. Unfortunately at this time I do not know the name of the person that made these videos.

This photo was probably made between 1905-07. Walter Zack (far left with hat) was born in 1893. So, just guessing that he is a young teenager, between 12-14 years old . Great Grandpa, William Zack, and Great Grandma Rebecca (Lucinda Wright) Florence , are each holding a child. The woman to Elizabeth's left is her mother Rebecca Lucinda Hawes Wright.

      There are two parts. Part 1 is mostly our Dad, Willie Zack Florence (1917-2010), presenting his recollections and the history of the Reunion as he remembers it. His first visit there was in 1922, when he was 5 years old. After 1991, Dad returned to the Reunion in 2007. Jan and her husband James made sure that he got there in August 2007. He was 90 years old.

      Special mention goes to Aunt Dollie, she introduced Dad: she was the wife of Alex Florence, Sr. (great uncle), who was one of our Granddad Florence's brothers; 12 of 13 children lived to adulthood. Dollie, her sons Lester and Daniel, and two daughters, Janice and Vera, were the ones that hosted us while we were there. Besides Dad and our Mother Reva (Veach) Florence, my sister Jan (Florence) May and my wife Marilyn (Svare') Florence were able to attend. Dollie was truly a wonderful person and her family were active in keeping the Reunion going for several years.

There are a few people that I recognize in these but I will not try to add notations. There are lots more for whom I do not recall their names.

Jan and I hope that you will enjoy these memories though there were many people that we do not know and I am sure the same for you.
